Some designs play particularly well to a different style of tooling the custom leather design - particularly simple line art designs (such as kanji characters, symbols, and other line art). This alternate style of tooling a design “inverts” the design - depressing it down into the leather, rather than raising it up from the leather as with our standard tooling.

The inverted design option is not available on complex or detailed designs, as fine details are not possible with this inverted style of design. That’s why we recommend considering it only on line style designs.

The pictured design is a custom design that was inverted. As you can see, this is physically tooled down, into the leather, rather than tooling around the outside of the design (as we do with most designs), this design is tooled inside the design, giving it a beautiful texture and look that can not be duplicated.

Inverted designs are not standard, however, they are available at the same additional cost as our regular/standard tooled designs. If our artist feels that your design may look nice inverted, he/she will give you the option at the time you order.

In addition to designs, letters used in personalization may also have the option of being inverted.
